Cantor Noam Rakovsky

Cantor Noam Rakovsky was born in 1971 to a well-known Cantorial family. He started his singing career at the age of 6 years old when he sang together with his brothers as the choir of their father cantor Yitzhak Rakovsky, during the High Holidays prayers and in many performances all year long.

 

During his childhood, he studied Cantorial music and voice training with the late famous conductor Shmuel Rivlin and was a member of his choir for several years.

In 1982, cantor Rakovsky made his first visit to Montreal Canada with his family to lead the prayers during the High Holidays at the "Zichron Kedoshim" congregation.

Cantor Rakovsky did his religious studies at the yeshiva "Kiryat-Herzog" in Bnei-Brak, Israel.

Soon after he finished his studies, cantor Rakovsky joined the army and served as a member of the IDF rabbinical choir for 3 years. During that time, cantor Rakovsky continued his musical studies and gained his stage experience when he performed for the Israeli soldiers in all kinds of army bases as well as in many state events that was arranged by the Israeli Government in front of all kind of audience.
In 1994, after he finished his army service, cantor Rakovsky was invited by the Israeli agency to be a musical instructor for 2 months in a summer camp in Wisconsin U.S.A.

When he came back to Israel, cantor Rakovsky established a musical band which he performed with at all kinds of events during the year. 

In 1996, cantor Rakovsky started studying in a law school in Ramat-Gan, Israel, For 4 years, and had his bachelor degree in law. After a year of practicing law in the ministry of defence in Tel-Aviv, cantor Rakovsky passed his Bar exams and became a lawyer. 

Aside his law studies, cantor Rakovsky continued to perform as a cantor. He worked with the U.J.A and the Israeli agency as a cantor, leading the singing and accompanying all kinds of missions that came to visit and to support Israel.

Between 1997-98, cantor Rakovsky became the Chief Cantor for the High Holidays at the “Emanuel Jewish center“ synagogue in Mount Vernon N.Y, U.S.A.

Between the years 2001-2004, cantor Rakovsky served as a Full time Cantor at "Shaare-Zedek" congregation, in Montreal, Canada.
Cantor Rakovsky led the congregation in prayer during Sabbath and Festival services. He officiated together with the Rabbi in all religious services, including Weddings, funerals, and unveilings of the congregational family.
Cantor Rakovsky taught Bar & Bat Mitzvah.
He co-operated with all arms of the Synagogue including the Sisterhood, Men's club and Junior Congregation.
He acted as a key member on several congregational committees.


After returning to Israel, he continued servicing as a cantor in Israel as well as in the USA.

Between the years 2005-2006, Cantor Rakovsky led the Passover "Seder" at the Dan Tel Aviv Hotel.
The Seder was held for over 500 participants from all around the world.
In addition, cantor Rakovsky was the chief chazan at "Beth David" Synagogue, in Greensboro NC, USA, during the High Holidays.

Cantor Rakovsky led the Passover "Seder" in many places, including:
Isrotel Lagona Hotel Eilat, Israel. Dan Tel Aviv Hotel, Israel. 
Moreover, in the Dan Boutique Jerusalem Hotel, Israel.
 

In 2007, cantor Rakovsky was the Chief Chazan at the "Heichal Moshe" synagogue, Tel Aviv, officiating with the Chief Rabbi of Tel Aviv – Rabbi Israel Meir Lau.

Between the years 2010–2011, Cantor Rakovsky was the Chief Chazan at the "Shaare Tikva B'nai Zion" congregation Chicago, Illinois, USA, during the High Holidays.

In 2012 and 2013, Cantor Rakovsky led the High Holidays prayer in the Dan Boutique Hotel, Jerusalem.

Since 2014, Cantor Rakovsky leads the High Holidays prayer at the "Bnai Israel" congregation in Gainesville, Florida, and established a choir, assembled by members of the congregation. 

Since 2015, Cantor Rakovsky leads the annual Passover Seder at the Herods Hotel in Herzlia, Israel.



Cantor Noam Rakovsky is known by his beautiful, exciting and chilling voice which makes every prayer an unusual, exciting and a beautiful one. 



Cantor Rakovsky lives in Givat - Shmuel, with his lovely wife Galit, and his two children - Idan and Yael.
